5+5: Erica Domesek | DIY Doyenne. Millenial Martha.

The internet, it is a small, small world. There are like 2 degrees of separation between you and just about anyone (hi, Alexander Skarsgard, call me!) so we weren't terribly surprised (but spectacularly pleased) when Jen's BFF Stacy London connected JB to her other BFF, this week's 5+5'er and stylish DIY doyenne, Erica Domesek — the creative force behind P.S. I Made This.

You see… Erica Domesek is sort of a big deal in both the crafting and fashion spheres. As the story goes, Erica once saved a friend from shelling out her hard-earned dough on a $600 necklace by throwing a crafting party to recreate the piece on their own. Not long after, the project drew praise backstage at a fashion show and a lightbulb went off for Erica: she could do this on a much larger scale!

It was a wild ride from revelation to a legit business built on the motto "I see it. I like it. I make it." In addition to her addictive DIY blog, Erica has written two books, created a line of DIY kits and is a dynamic TV personality. She's appeared on the Today Show, Rachael Ray, E! News, and had the surreal opportunity to drop some science on "M. Diddy" about how to craft a design-forward necklace out of rubber bouncy balls. In fact, The Wall Street Journal refers to her as the "Millennial Martha Stewart," and the positive name-calling doesn't stop there. Elle Magazine dubbed Erica "Fashion's Queen of DIY"… so she's royalty, ya hear!

Us? We just like to think of her as a badass business lady and owner of one covetable craft closet. Being an authority on style and home decor, we just knew Erica would have a unique take on the art that inspires her and BONUS: it turns out that Erica is also an OG 20x200 collector who's been our champion since the early days. Color us bedazzled. We're psyched our worlds have collided. Boom.

5 Perfect Picks

1) Ideal Bookshelf 505: Fashion, by Jane Mount
I'm an avid collector of fashion coffee table books…I even own some of these titles in the painting. It's truly the best of the best!

2) prettymaps (la), by Aaron Straup Cope
Los Angeles holds a very special place in my heart. It's almost like a second home to me. The sweet and warm colors mixed with my highway crowded heaven are the perfect medley.

3) Praia Piquinia 16/08/11, by Christian Chaize
There's something about a beach packed with beautiful strangers boasting vivid colors that speaks to me. On one hand, you want to know who they are, where they are, why there are there… and on the other hand… you just want to get lost in the depth and composition.

4) Flamingo No. 4, by Sharon Montrose
I've been a fan of Sharon Montrose for quite some time. I fell in love with her giraffes a long time ago. Flamingo No. 4 speaks to me because I have ALWAYS wanted to hang a flamingo in my home! Every since I fell in love with Audubon's iconic Flamingo, I've loved the idea of finding one of my own. I recently went to Tanzania and saw thousands of these pinky pals who took my breath away. I even took home some fallen found feathers.

5) Rockaway Beach, Food Concession, 1940, by Vintage Editions
I grew up going to boardwalks. My mother grew up going to boardwalks. My grandmother grew up going to boardwalks. This feels like it could have been someone in my family strolling. I have no idea who these girls are, but I dream that I am related to them and they are en route to get some boardwalk french fries.
