My recent paintings focus on houses and commercial structures captured in a state of partial construction. These works explore the building process and, in them, find a metaphor for the activity of painting. My intention is to draw a connection between the construction of a building out of raw materials (lumber, steel and concrete) and the construction of a picture out of raw materials (paint, canvas, wood). In this work, Support, I have made that connection overt; the wood of the panel on which I am painting stands in for the wood framing in the image. The color scheme is dominated by the three primary colors, red, yellow, blue, the fundamental elements of painting.
