Artist Statement

What could be simpler?! Two dogs in a sloop, out for a sail on a sunny, breezy afternoon in Maine. With the refrigerator-sized 20"x24" Polaroid camera in position on the shore, and generator-powered banks of strobe lights aimed at the point where the boat will, hopefully, sail/drift into view; dogs (Batty and Crooky) dressed and in place, assistant Jason Burch behind the boat somehow adjusting outfits while treading water, we are all set. Cue the boat... Oops, Crooky lost a sleeve... Reset... Cue the boat... Oops, wind took the boat askew... Batty down... Reset, repeat x 20... Voila!
