Artist Statement

My photographs are entrenched in the narratives of daily life, particularly those surrounding one's relationship to nature and how it is mediated by built spaces and everyday objects. Salmon Hole (Chico, California) was taken during the final leg of a cross-country trip in 2007 from New York City to Portland, Oregon. It is one of several swimming holes in Upper Bidwell Park. If one dives deep enough, there is a series of underwater caves and tunnels that take you to other parts of Big Chico Creek.
