Artist Statement

I watched the sun setting over the Lizard Range Mountains from the shore of Island Lake near Fernie, British Columbia. As I stood there, taking in the sounds and smells, I noticed the canoe about to line up with the range's prominent Papa Bear peak. They both stopped paddling for a brief moment as they approached, calming the waters around them, and looked up to admire the early snowmelt on the jagged mountain range. Like bookmarking a passage in a novel, photography is how I highlight favorite fleeting moments of my life.
