Artist Statement

Lately, I've been starting my paintings with a geometric pattern or grid, something to follow and deviate from. From there, I keep adding to the painting, leaving the good parts in and layering until I have a simple composition that packs a punch. All the layers and marks made are visible, you get a sense of the process. They're simple but not delicate. The surface is textured, smudged and a bit dirty.
