Artist Statement

Pete has always been a night person. He likes nothing better than to be alone in the middle of nowhere, on a country road for hours on end. On again, off again, he has been making photographs at night for almost 30 years. Throughout those years, he has sporadically taken pictures of fireflies, finding satisfaction in the challenge. Only in the past few years has technology provided new tools that enable an enhanced ability to see in the dark, minus many of the limitations of film. While he is willing to travel a couple miles for fireflies, most of his night work is done within walking distance of his home in a small village in Upstate New York.
