It’s National Poetry Month, and our team of self-professed lit lovers is commemorating the occasion with a series of poetry and art pairings—bound for your inbox every Saturday in April. We’ve got a history of pairing prints + poetry that goes way back to 20x200’s early days. Once you see the exercise in action, you’ll understand why—the two art forms make fascinating bedfellows. Presented side-by-side without explanation, they enter into an exchange, a restrained tango danced at a distance, just a hair too far to touch. Subtler gestures suddenly stand out in relief against the paired partner. Suggestive similarities deepen our appreciation for each work. And if we’re being honest, playing matchmaker with art and poems is a truly satisfying brain teaser.
