A new book (!) plus art + lit picks from the travel tastemakers @ Fathom

Is it too soon to declare 2019 the year of perfectly executed travel plans? Maybe, but we’re calling it early and counting on a self-fulfilling prophecy. Blame our confidence on two recent revelations: A) as soon as the weather starts to improve, summer vacay fantasizing suddenly supersedes our other priorities, like getting work done and basic motor functions. B) The founders of Fathom just published a brilliant new book, Travel Anywhere (And Avoid Being a Tourist), that makes us feel like certified travel pros.

We’ve been Fathom readers for years now, and anyone with an ounce of wanderlust would be well served by subscribing to their newsletter and poring over their tried and true travel guides, travel product picks, retreat recs, hotel roundups and so. much. more. Fathom is a serious treasure trove of travel info and inspo, and always the first place we turn to start trip planning, so when the co-founders—Pavia Rosati and Jeralyn Gerba—debuted their book, you can imagine we copped a copy right quick.
Travel Anywhere covers everything from how to choose the right destination and where to stay if you’re on a budget (but still wanna feel fancy), to global volunteer opportunities and can’t-miss locales for foodies. How’d they get all that in there? Well, they’re probably both expert packers.

Rosati and Gerba are also totally wise to the transportive powers of awesome art, so we asked the authors to double team a
Lit Gallery for us. Their book + art pairings will really you take you somewhere (see below), and we'd be remiss if we didn't point out that their reading recs will come in handy for your next flight to one of the bucket list-worthy destinations their new book will have you heading to.   — Team 20x200

We run a travel website, which means that other worlds, places, and experiences are *always* top of mind. When we can't be in a foreign country by actually, you know, being there, we turn to stories and art — and the authors and artists who create them — to transport us into their worlds of adventure, bravery, romance, and fish-out-of-water delight. (If only we could rack up frequent flyer miles on these journeys.) — Pavia Rosati and Jeralyn Gerba, co-authors of Travel Anywhere (And Avoid Being a Tourist): Travel trends and destination inspiration for the modern adventurer

The 411 on Pavia Rosati and Jeralyn Gerba

Jeralyn Gerba and Pavia Rosati constantly criss-cross the globe in search of the new and the timeless, the celebrated and the undiscovered. They met as editors at DailyCandy and in 2011 launched Fathom to connect passionate travelers to the world’s best places, people, and experiences. What began as an editorial website is now an award-winning travel platform with digital guides, a consulting division, and a concierge service.
