Grab your sunglasses—we have some dazzling art coming your way! Jennifer Sanchez gives us the pop of color we live for at 20x200. Sink into the luscious texture and vibrant patterns in her newest edition, NY2240.

NY2240 is an absorbing eyeful of characteristically over-the-top exuberance. In her ongoing series of “patternf*ck” pieces—including NY1867 and the Rainbow VillageSanchez focuses on tightly gridded geometric patterns that fill the frame, layered and overlapping, each bringing its own bright color combination head to head with another in the festively frenetic mix of things. The acrylic she used to paint the patterns in NY2240 adds textural interest on top of it all, something that comes across even more marvelously in the larger sizes.

Sanchez draws inspiration from Memphis Design—an Italian radically maximalist movement from the 1980s—in combination with the gorgeous geometric modernism of Ukrainian-born French artist Sonia Delaunay. Sanchez’s color combinations and geometries are meditative even through their vibrating energy. Half orbs and architectural forms seem to hang in close proximity as if magnetized, varying tonal combinations creating a playful interchange between planes.

Sanchez print takes on a life of its own once it’s out in the wild, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. “It’s my baby when I’m making it,” the artist told us, “but when it's in other people’s hands it’s up to them.” Nestle it in a salon wall cloud of whatever hues you gravitate towards, or treat yourself to a mega-sized version for pattern packed statement-making. As an endlessly adaptable test of self-expression, NY2240 passes with flying colors.
