New! Photographer Alice Gao’s Summer in Antibes July 21 2016
Alice Gao’s images are a love letter to light. Her photographs—ranging from expressively shadowed to decadently sun-drenched—make us want to be wherever she is, doing whatever she’s doing. Her 20x200 debut is no departure from that (brilliantly abnormal) norm: dive into the crystal clear waters of Summer in Antibes...
Go ahead and soak up the rich blue hues of Summer in Antibes. Bright colors, carefree beachgoers, calm water all around, everything in perfect proportion—Alice Gao knows just the right recipe for a photograph that doubles as a lucid dream. That’s just what originally drew us to her work: her uncanny ability to capture a real-life moment through a uniquely romantic lens.
Gao’s road to photography has been an interesting one: she began as a photo archivist, moved into corporate America, and after a year of feeling creatively unfulfilled, made the leap to full-time freelancing. In the years since, her career has blossomed impressively. Her eye for beauty, travel, and style, her determination, and her seriously dreamy Insta feed have caught the eyes of everyone from goop to GAP. We’ve been seeing her work for years across some of our favorite sites, so we’re way delighted to welcome her to our artist roster with Summer in Antibes!
What really gets us going when it comes to beautifully executed beach scenes like Summer in Antibes is how well they work at any size. At 11”x14”, enjoy the painterly pointillism of the colorful dots of beachgoers. At 30”x40”, revel in the delightful details (like the adorable vélos at the top of the image). Alice Gao’s photography—large or small—makes a magnificent addition to almost any room. In fact, we’re so excited to see how you incorporate Summer in Antibes into your art collection that we’re offering some incentive! Send us a photo that shows how you made this edition at home on your wall, and we’ll send you a code for 10% off a future purchase.
